How to Replace an Audi G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole, and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get zero Ohm. I think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even replace audi key if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.

3. Fuel Pump
